Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) is a policy-based financing institution responsible for conducting Japan's external economic policy and economic cooperation. JBIC operations consist of the following:

| In IFOs, JBIC provides loans and financial instruments such as export loans, import loans, overseas investment loans, untied loans and guarantees, as well as equity participation in Japanese firms' overseas economic activities. The principle purpose for these operations is to promote Japanese exports, imports and economic activities overseas and to contribute to the stability of the international financial order. |
In OECOs, JBIC provides concessionary lending (including ODA loans), which constitutes part of Japanese official development assistance (ODA), and conducts development-related studies. The principle purpose is to assist developing countries in their efforts to develop economic and social infrastructure and stabilize their economies. |
The Representative Office in New York oversees JBIC's operations in the United States (excluding Washington, DC), Canada, Republic of Colombia and Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. To facilitate overall JBIC operations, our office provides the following functions.
